BANALITY

Banality

I looked through the pores of city lights

Found none but mystery

Some voices said, some eyes unheard

and faces gloom to treachery

I vexed few lines of charcoal

Pushed them harsh

achieve no grace

Few travel bugs and enthusiasts

Came with songs of reckless praise

to oblique me and bring me sultry

Some voices said, some eyes unheard

and faces gloom to treachery

Clout of light is concubine of dark

Where dark is a patient riddle

riddles are born on gutters of street

beneath stripped flesh of reality

I longed for a friend in empty crowds

Truthful and viscous essentially

Could only find frames without a shadow

Endangered heart with mucous of banality

Some voices said some eyes unheard

And โ€˜theirโ€™ faces gloom to treachery

  1. Saaransh, I adore what you have captured here in, โ€œBANALITYโ€. Dark and brooding, yet with feelings of longing and a need for belonging. The repeat is wonderful, and the last repeat with โ€œtheirโ€ makes your words quite powerful. I paused for a long time and reflected when I read, โ€œWhere dark is a patient riddleโ€, isnโ€™t it? The artwork is superb, and mirrors your words beautifully, and yes, you did achieve grace. ๐Ÿ™‚ As always a stunning post and presentation. Please have a wonderful day, wishing you well. ~ Mia ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This is a powerfully dark piece. Almost haunting in a sense. Your sketch is perfect for it as well Saaransh. You always post amazing pieces, my friend.

  5. Dark but so true.. especially this line “I longed for a friend in empty crowds Truthful and viscous essentially” ..searching for blunt and true people.. a never ending struggle… nd the dark further riddles it up ๐Ÿ‘Œ such poetry๐Ÿ˜

  6. Saraansh bhai. . You touched me with this poem. . I can feel the pain and words here. Sometimes we become banal in such a way that we give plastic smiles, just breathe not live and start assuming that even brightness is dark. These type of feelings are hard to overcome, we need good inspiration for that and that too from within. The picture is so haunting. It says it all. Good work bhai. . Your sketches are master pieces. .

Have a beautiful week ahead. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank U so much Sayanti and m so pleased to know it ‘touched’ u ๐Ÿ˜€

By ‘some eyes unheard’ I meant emotions of truest order … which unfortunately is happily neglected in our times.
